santa fe

we made it to santa fe! and it only took.....wow, about 6 days. much longer than expected but we were at the mercy of the midwestern snowpocalypse (which, by the way, was only about 6 inches).

but! in the last 6 days we have been to 15 states -- MA, CT, NY, NJ, PA, WV, OH, KY, IN, IL, MO, AK, OK, TX, NM. we have seen so much; it has really been incredible.

here are some pictures from our drive through NM. they really do it no justice, since they were taken out of our dirty car window, but here they are anyway:

more to follow!

road trip

finally...our trip has officially begun. the beginning of december was absolutely nuts, and truthfully seemed like it was never going to end. the end of this semester felt like the last few miles of a marathon, and many times, i wanted to drop out of the race. but! everything worked out perfectly, i am thrilled with my grades, and i feel super accomplished. so...on to new mexico!

we are day and a half behind schedule, which should surprise absolutely no one. we left today at 2pm and it took us 8hrs to make it to harrisburg, pa. only 30hrs left to go.

bergen

currently in paramus nj at bergen community college computer lab. i had no idea that community colleges could be this nice. i thought that by definition community colleges have "creative" architecture from the 1970's and computers that were outdated 5 years ago.

you better shape up, bunker hill.

all i want for hanukkah is...

a new wide angle lens for my dslr. so... i know that i am not going to get it, seeing as it is $600, but that certainly isn't going to stop me from lusting after it.

here it is in all of its pricey glory:

the tokina 11-16 mm wide angle lens. so pretty.

i learned recently that my beautiful nikon d80 camera has a smaller sensor than a 35mm camera, so the lenses can't shoot as wide. my 18mm is actually shooting at 27mm, which is not wide at all. hence the need for an 11mm. the wide angle works so well for landscape photos, which i got into taking last year.

i took these last year with my 18mm and they came out well, but i think my lens will struggle to capture the vast beauty of new mexico.

maybe the hanukkah fairy will surprise me.

finally...a vacation!

so! after much deliberation, we have decided on a destination for our holiday vacation - new mexico! there is one catch, of course: rather than buying an airline ticket, boarding a plane, and flying to new mexico, we have decided to rent a ford focus, pack up the dog and my ski's from 1988, and drive the 2000 miles from boston to NM. super excited.

there is so so so much to do before we leave - evan has to travel to colombia for 2 weeks, i have to go to TWO lady gaga concerts and get A's on 4 exams. plus we have to squeeze in hanukkah somewhere. december is going to be nuts.

i will be posting throughout december and putting up photos and details from our trip. be sure to check back!
